Hello World

Hello World, this is Island 2000 calling. It is late December now and we’re madly completing project work, developing ideas and setting up the new stuff ready for 2007 before letting the great Yule wave crash over us. There’s a Black Redstart perched right on top of the old Columbine Building outside the office window as I write this, shamelessly showing up the local Robins ; a Med Gull has just drifted over, we’ve had the piano tuned for the outdoor carol concert that’s actually a public art exhibition; the farmbird crop seeds have been delivered as have next year’s disease resistant elm trees; I’m scanning microscopic images of By-the-Wind Sailor jellyfish to turn into inspirational business posters; the photos from last week’s fantastic ‘Build-a-Bird’ school workshops need sorting and there’s the prehistoric timber and Saxon magic wand (honestly folks) to sort out with conservators as a matter of urgency. And that’s not mentioning the environmental impact assessments and badger surveys, newt reports and planning constraints maps that are all underway . There’s a lot to do and so there should be: we’ve a busy world and an endlessly fascinating Island to explore, and that’s how we like it. Have a lovely Christmas and tune in again soon.
